Lincoln's Haberdashery

Mary’s Muffin: Add Avocado, Cheddar Cheese, Pickled Jalapeños

I found my new casual weekend breakfast spot in Charlotte. Located in the South End is a place called Lincoln’s Haberdashery. (But beware of a common mistake – this is often confused with the restaurant in NODA called Haberdish.)

A hidden gem

Lincoln’s Haberdashery is very unassuming from the outside. It’s in a little plaza — almost a strip mall — with parking in the center. Most people I’ve brought here drive right by it every day, never knowing it was there. When you walk in, immediately to your right is a big wine section. On your left is seating. Walk straight to the back, and there is a counter where you order from a menu written on chalkboards behind the counter. While the selection isn’t huge, they cover all the bases — breakfast sandwiches, an egg white scramble, bacon and eggs, avocado toast, crepes, donuts, cinnamon rolls….

Liquid delights

For drinks, they offer hot coffee, cold brew, iced lavender lattes, or a variety of other coffee specialties. (They have Oatly oat milk, so they are already a step ahead of most places in Charlotte.) Feel like something boozy? Grab a bottle of wine or a draft beer. Even more fun though — they have mimosa kits in the fridge, which you can order to bring home or enjoy while you’re dining there.

Not feeling like breakfast or a sweet treat? No worries.

Lincoln’s has you covered with their lunch menu. I call it the lunch menu because it consists of sandwiches I’d normally eat for lunch; however, both the breakfast and lunch menu is served all day. My summer routine will be to go for breakfast on Saturdays and get a sandwich to bring home and eat by the pool for lunch. They serve everything from a fancy grilled cheese to a Caprese with prosciutto to a pork cutlet sandwich to a Bahn mi. Want something healthier? They have several grab-and-go salad options in the cooler.

What should you order?

Everything! I’ve yet to have something bad here. Of course, some items are better than others, but nothing left me upset that I ordered it.

Get anything with bread. Toast, a sandwich — anything. They make the bread in-house, and it’s crusty on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It’s delicious.

BRIOCHE DONUT! The donut flavor changes every week, and the chef almost NEVER repeats a flavor. You CANNOT miss this.

Mary’s Muffin. It’s a customizable breakfast sandwich on a fresh crusty roll with scrambled egg, tomato, dukes mayo, and your choice of hickory nut gap ham, bacon, or avocado. You can add an additional protein, salsa verde, red onion, fresh or pickled jalapeños, and cheese.

Eggs Your Way. The is the classic breakfast of eggs, toast, and a side salad. Add the amazing thick-cut bacon to round it out!

L.G.B.T.Q. This is their take on a BLT with lettuce, guacamole, bacon, and tomato on a crusty roll with a side of quinoa. It comes with some DELICIOUS pickles on the side too.

Lincoln’s Bedroom. Soppressata, aged provolone, pickled pepper, onion, and basil. What’s not to love about this?

The 13th. A classic sandwich that can be found in most Italian delis. It features housemade mozzarella, prosciutto, fresh basil, EVOO. Yum!

There are tons of other things I’d like to try, but slow and steadily… I’ll get there. I’ve put a pretty good dent in the menu thus far, and I plan to keep coming back.
